On this special Oscars night, Claudia Winkleman will be the host of the live show for Sky Movies.

A popular English TV presenter and journalist, the 35 year old has appeared on the likes of the Beeb’s Holiday programme, the National Lottery, the entertainment show Liquid News and The House of Tiny Tearaways.

She’s also a regular contributor to The Sunday Times, The Independent, the Metro and Cosmopolitan magazine.

Now, saline water worries flood-hit Malwa farmers

After suffering heavy losses due to water logging this kharif season, farmers of the Malwa region are a worried lot with their fields still inundated and the wheat-sowing season already in the offing.

With over 50 per cent of their paddy and cotton crops totally perished, the land tillers in villages of Bahmanwala, Takhtmalana, Jhabelwali, Chadhewan, Thandewala, Widing, Udaikaran, Chauntara, Bajja, Vattoo, Haraj, Sarainaga and Jammuana helplessly watched the migratory birds in their flooded or marshy fields. They are looking for remedies to get rid of the menace of sem (saline water logging in fields).

As one walks over these sem-affected fields, the feet sink in the earth as if the water below is waiting to come up.

The sem has blackened the top layer of soil. A farmer will have to plough such a piece of land at least four times to make it fit for cultivation.

Wings unhappy with defensive effort

Housing crisis begins to hit suburbs

Just two months ago, RealtyTrac data showed that 657 families living in 14 Connecticut municipalities were in preforeclosure, which means they were delinquent and a foreclosure filing was imminent. Those 14 cities and towns represented a cross-section of Fairfield County and other cities and towns in the Bridgeport area.
