Tomac Launches U.S. Dealer Program

LINCOLN, NE (BRAIN)Tomac Mountain Bikes has launched a U.S. dealer program. Phil Doerflein, a bike industry veteran of 20 years, and a former IBD dealer from the Pacific Northwest, has been hired to manage U.S. sales for Tomac. The response to the new line of Tomac bikes has been phenomenal, said Tomac's owner Joel Smith. Weve expanded the models, introducing three new bikes this year, and now have a line that will be very attractive for dealers. The Tomac brand is the namesake of racing legend John Tomac and was relaunched in 2006 by former Manitou brand manager Joel Smith. The focus is on high-end mountain bikes for discerning riders. Tomac bikes resonate with top tier mountain bikers, and shops who want to service these riders, Doerflein said. The brand is once again situated at the high end and can really help cutting edge shops remain the choice for discriminating buyers.

Rural Pen: MRIs Show Scientists The Ways Of Love

Yes.

"The more scientists look, the more they're able to tease romance apart into its individual strands - the visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, neurochemical processes that make it possible," writes Jeffrey Kluger in the Jan. 28 issue of Time.

Science, which tries to explain everything from Earth's creation to its extinction, has now tackled love. Much as I hate to admit it, they've pretty much described my courtship and marriage. Except for one thing.

One of the more interesting facts they've discovered is what attracts men to women and vice versa. Several studies have shown that men prefer women with large breasts and a high hip-to-waist ratio - the 1950s ideal of 36-26-36 - which are seen as signs of fertility. Women like men with a broad chest, muscular shoulders and a full beard, all signs of strength and virility.

Starwatch Consumer: GM dealers will list used cars on eBay

General Motors dealers will start listing their certified used car inventories at eBay Motors in the second quarter this year.

Certified used cars have longer warranties and often are in better condition than others.

Ford recalls SUVs

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 123,632 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator sport utility vehicles to fix door handles that may allow latches to open in a side-impact crash.

The housings for springs in the interior door handles of 2006 and 2007 models can break during normal use and not return the handles to the locked position.

Patch problem

Johnson & Johnson and Novartis AG are recalling patches containing the painkiller fentanyl because of possible cuts in the drug reservoir that could cause patients or caregivers to overdose on the potent drug inside.

Sarkozy vows to arrest and try 'shooters' in riots

I notice in this discussion that accusations of racism are thrown about a little too easily. It has the effect of attempting to shut down conversation, and avoiding discussion of the central problems: Moslem immigrants refusing to assimilate; Moslem immigrants actively loathing their non-Moslem hosts and countrymen; Moslem immigrants seeking the destruction of Western political and social systems and replacing them with Islamic ones.

The rioting and otherwise violent "youths" are very clear about their views.

The citizenry of Western Europe (certainly, for example, based on comments in this discussion) have been let down by politicians and unaccountable EU bureaucrats.

Considering the far below replacement level birthrate of Western Europe and the willful blindness of her elites, I fear that things are going to get much, much worse.

Arrogant Clemens looks like liar, not McNamee

Throughout the day he never lost his cool, while behind Clemens his hovering team of legal beagles did, to the point they had to be dressed down. Lawyer questioning was not allowed by the rules.

If you care to dig into performance evidence, check into Clemens' record in the middle of his career. With the Red Sox in 1993 he had his first losing season, 11-14 and a high earned-run average. Following season 9-7, then 10-5, with rehab time in the minor leagues. Then another losing season, 10-13 and another high ERA, Now as a free agent he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, and who should he find there but Brian McNamee in some kind of training capacity. Ah, Brian McNamee, who became his personal trainer.

Sudden return to glory. He won 21 games, his earned-run average dropped to 2.05, a plummet, followed by another 20-win season in 1998.

Plan to insure working poor stalls

John's spokeswoman Cora Scott said St. John's, along with other Missouri hospitals, will continue to work with lawmakers "to address the problem of the state's uninsured."

"Because of organizations like St. John's and our mission in the community, the good news is we take care of people regardless of their insurance status," Scott said.

"The problem is they end up receiving it in a fragmented way, in the most costly location — the hospital emergency department. That impacts the whole community because those costs are shifted to the whole community."

Through 2007, uninsured patient care in the emergency trauma center cost St. John's an extra $500,000 every month, St. John's administrators have said.

As lawmakers address ways to expand coverage to low-income Missourians, Scott said, "...we will also continue to collaborate with others in the community to work on solutions that expand access to care for uninsured and working poor people."

Under Blunt's initial Insure Missouri plan, coverage was expected to be available in March to working parents and caregivers with children who live at or below the poverty level — $20,650 for a family of four.
